The Mental Health First Aid training provides the skills and knowledge to recognise situations where people may be in imminent crisis, as well as help minimise safety concerns and make plans to access support services.

Spokesman Gordon Botwright said they’d like to see the idea adopted in all workplaces and knowing you have that support in your workplace is very comforting.

“Having a workplace mental health first aid officer within the organisation would provide that ability and knowledge to support their community their colleagues, their employees going through mental health issues in the workplace,” he said.
